The ponds of Plothen in the boroughs of Plothen and Dreba in the state of Thuringia. The ponds form a connected region in the Naturepark Thuringian Shale Mountains. The first ponds were layed out by monks in the Middle Ages, primarily for fishing and fish supply of the region. Today it is a beloved recreational area
