Der Berliner Fernsehturm ist mit 368 m das höchste Bauwerk Deutschlands und das vierthöchste freistehende Bauwerk Europas. Er befindet sich im östlichen Zentrum in Berlin-Mitte. Zu sehen ist auch die silberne Kuppel der Kongresshalle, daneben das Haus des Lehrers, sowie gegenüber das Hotel Park Inn. The tower was built between 1965 and 1969 by the former German Democratic Republic (GDR), and its image was used as a symbol of Berlin by the GDR administration. The tower is easily visible throughout the central districts of Berlin, and remains a symbol of the city.
