The Naval School Muerwik, abbreviation MSM, is the training center for officers and officer candidates of the navy with its subordinate sailing training ship Gorch Fock. In the district of Flensburg-Muerwik, the foundation stone was laid in 1907 for the building erected according to the generous plans of the Naval Building Authority Kelm. The external design of the MSM, which is also called the Red Castle on the sea, is very similar to the historic buildings of the East Prussian Marienburg of the Teutonic Knights
