The sailing ship Alexan der von Humboldt during the Kieler Woche outside Schilksee in the city of Kiel in the state of Schleswig-Holstein. The Kieler Woche (week of Kiel) is a yearly sailing regatta which takes place in the Baltic Sea every June. Most of the races start in the Schilksee part of Kiel. The week is one of the largest sailing sports events in the world. The ship was in use as a sailing ship from the 1980s until 2011 and was originally built in 1906
