The Rur barrier lake in the Hasenfelde part of the town of Heimbach in the state of North Rhine-Westphalia. The lake is created by the Rur valley dam Schwammenauel. In the lake there are two peninsulas as well as the island Eichert in the middle of that part of the lake. It is the second largest barrier lake in Germany and is used to regulate the river Rur, for power generation and as a recreational area
