On the UNESCO World Heritage Museum Island are world-famous museums such as the Bode Museum, Pergamon Museum, the Old Museum, the New Museum and the Old National Gallery. The Berliner Dom completes the ensemble of buildings. At the time of recording much construction took place in the city center. The Palace of the Republic, a large representative building of the GDR was not demolished
