The castle is first mentioned in documents Wysburg in May of 1320 as robber knights. 1985 made ??by the former Museum of Prehistory and Early History of Thuringia first scientifically based excavations. The walls were gradually up to some certain level, backed up again and it marked the original level by red bricks. So far been excavated including the farm buildings of the outer ward with oven, outside walls, keep, great hall, tower, wall-trench system, gate and cistern system
