In Doettingen in Switzerland in the canton of Aargau, the Swiss nuclear power plant with the two pressurized water reactors of each 365 MW lies at the Aare river shortly before its confluence with the Rhine. Beznau-1 and Beznau-2 went into operation in 1969 and 1972. Beznau-1 is the first nuclear power plant in Switzerland and the oldest in the world.
