Die Anfänge des Wormser Domes St.Peter gehen bis um 600 zurück. Der spätromanische Dombau des 12.Jahrhunderts steht auf den Fundamenten von Bischof Burchards (1000-1025) Kathedrale. Mit den Domen von Mainz und Speyer zählt er zu den drei "Kaiserdomen" am Rhein.
