Blick auf das Kraftwerk Boxberg, ein Braunkohlekraftwerk in der Oberlausitz. Es erreicht eine Leistung von 1900 Megawatt, verteilt auf drei Kraftwerksblöcke. Bis zum Jahr 2011 entsteht am Standort ein weiterer Kraftwerksblock mit einer Leistung von 675 MW. Um diesen mit Kohle zu versorgen, wurde der gestundete Tagebau Reichwalde durch Vattenfall Europe Mining (ehemals LAUBAG) wieder aktiviert. Am 16. Oktober 2006 begannen die Erdarbeiten, und am 13. April 2007 fand die Grundsteinlegung für das neue Kraftwerk statt.
